Silent Asking

Silent Asking

If she could ask, she’d ask
Will you please guide me to those places that scare me
Unwaveringly
Please be there with me
In kindness
Please hold my hand
Firmly
Will you please let this be about what I need
Not about what I want or think I must be

If she could speak, she’d say
I’m still here, waiting
I need
Hands that support me
Without mercy
Eyes that see me
Naked
I need love that never puts itself first
Never forgets who I am

If she could even whisper
She’d reach out in desperate hope
To someone who can tell the difference
Between good and wrong
To someone who can see clearly
Into the depth
Instead there is silence
The silence of desperate need, afraid of rejection
The silence of hope undisturbed
